Life Update- What Is Next After College?

You can’t just sit there and wait for people to give you that golden dream. You’ve got to get out there and make it happen for yourself.

In a previous college blog post, I wrote,

College has been my haven. I am hopeful and excited for what is to come. Be it Law school or graduate school or even a gap year to try to figure out my path. I am still hopeful.

If you want to finish reading that post, you can find it here

In going back and reading that post, It feels surreal to feel the same anxiety and excitement that I felt all over again when I was starting my senior year.  It is even more surreal to realize that really soon, this chapter in my life is going to be over. I left you guys hanging for a while again- something I promised not to do but, with school and senior year shenanigans... I don't think I had a choice.

2018 has honestly been good to me, and in less than a month, I will be walking across that stage with my mum probably yelling and crying in the background to get my bachelors degree. I didn't think it would come so soon. It feels like just yesterday; I was flying out of Nigeria to begin college here in the United States. Okay. Enough of the yapping about graduating I know you guys get it, haha and I also know you want to know what is next for me... well keep reading!

What's next?

I know for a lot of students graduating, this is by far the most pressing question. What is next? For me, it's graduate school. Not by choice, but by necessity. As an international student, you only have a few options when studying in the United States and finding a job was not high on my to-do list. I don't think I am ready for that responsibility at 20 years old. So, I began applying to graduate programs last year fall and got accepted to FIVE out of the SIX graduate schools I applied to! I am definitely writing several posts on my experience with graduate programs and taking the GRE in the next few months so if you are interested, subscribe to my email list! But for now, I GOT INTO GRADUATE SCHOOL!!!

Getting into graduate school was not easy and for the past few months its been nerve-wracking waiting for decisions and figuring out what the next step is. I am not ready to share where I applied to yet... maybe in another post, but I just could not wait to let you all know what was next for me.

I am slightly nervous about this next chapter and even more nervous about "adulting," but I think I can handle it! I hope I can handle it and if I can't, I am sure you all will be here to guide me!

Love,

Sofi :)
